Making Products Better
Sport Product Testing (SPT) was founded in 2015 by Pro Stergiou and John Horton with a simple purpose: to provide objective, meaningful insights that help companies develop more accurate, usable, and effective products for their customers.
What began as a two-person vision has grown into a team of more than 10 professionals, including Research Technicians, Research Scientists, and Senior Research Scientists, all dedicated to helping companies create better products through evidence-based testing and evaluation.
Drawing on decades of combined experience in industry and academia, our team recognized a need for independent product testing services that bridge the gap between laboratory measurements, real-world performance, and consumer experience.
At SPT, we generate objective, actionable insights that help companies bring better products to market. We work with organizations developing footwear, apparel, wearable technology, sporting equipment, and other performance products, providing support throughout the product development cycle—from concept development and prototype evaluation to product validation and market readiness.
Our expertise spans both functional performance and consumer perception, enabling us to deliver a comprehensive understanding of how products perform and how they are experienced by the people who use them. Through an innovative, agile, and customer-focused approach, we help organizations make informed decisions, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
Whether you’re an elite athlete pursuing a personal best, a weekend warrior training for your next race, or someone simply seeking products that perform as promised, our goal remains the same: to help ensure the products reaching consumers are accurate, usable, and backed by meaningful evidence.
SPT operates within the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta, providing access to advanced testing laboratories, athletes, and sport science experts. Over the years, we have partnered with some of the world’s leading sport and fitness brands. Through our relationship with the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta, we also share product knowledge with Olympic athletes and contribute a portion of our profits to support athlete development and podium performance.
We’re proud to support The Post Run Snack and its mission of connecting, informing, and inspiring the endurance sport community. We look forward to sharing insights from the world of sport product research and highlighting the science behind the products athletes rely on every day.
