Meet the founder of The Post Run Snack

April 18, 2026
Hi everyone, my name is Jeff. Welcome to the Post Run Snack!
I thought it made sense to kick off my first newsletter with a little bit about myself. I grew up in Edmonton (Go Oilers!) and moved to Calgary to speed skate at U of C. My childhood consisted of hockey, golf, and speed skating – so I grew up valuing health and fitness.
I always had a bucket list item of running a marathon, and in 2015, I decided to go for it at the Edmonton Marathon. I was hooked, and the rest is history: 11 years of racing later, including 11 marathons, I am still pushing myself today. I hope to be chasing my physical limits in running for as long as I can.
Being a part of the Calgary running community
I went to my first YYC Run Crew in 2017 and later became a lead there, going twice a week for years. Since that first visit, I have witnessed the growth of the running community in Calgary and met some lifelong friends. Some of the best times of my life have been with YYC Run Crew, and I am so happy to have seen it grow to the huge group it now welcomes for each run. I’ve also been a lululemon ambassador, HYROX Canada ambassador and am pacing Calgary’s half marathon this coming May for the third time.
The first phase of my career was in event planning and management, and after I started running, I wanted to bring that skill and passion to get Calgarians together to support great local causes through fitness. Since 2018, I’ve raised thousands of dollars for charity through fitness events like 90s yoga, 80s spin and DJ track nights. Last year I organized the first One Track Mind relay, raising $5,000 for Alzheimer’s research in honour of my two grandmothers who passed from this disease. I hope to raise twice as much this year!
Why did I create The Post Run Snack?
Calgary has a huge number of run crews, races and community events for a city of our size. But without a central place to showcase them, I saw friends struggle to get attendance at their events and found myself finding out too late about events I would have liked to go to. Even though life is busy and Instagram is noisy, people still want to spend time with communities that matter to them – I wanted to provide a single spot that helps Calgary’s runners do just that.
