Move For The Girls: A New Reason to Move In October

There’s something special about Calgary’s running community, the energy, the connection and the feeling that movement can be about something bigger than yourself.
Girls Forward Foundation has experienced that sense of community firsthand, empowering more than 500 girls across Alberta through running programs and local events.
This October, we’re calling on Calgary’s running community to come together to Move For The Girls!
What is Move For The Girls?
Move For The Girls is a month-long national movement led by Girls Forward Foundation, bringing people together across Canada throughout October to Move, Give and Celebrate in support of girls in sport.
This year, the goal is to collectively reach 360,000 movement minutes and raise $100,000 to support Girls Forward programming across Canada.
Why it matters
Girls Forward Foundation believes that every girl deserves the opportunity to experience the transformative power of sport and physical activity.
Since 2005, Girls Forward has impacted more than 37,000 girls, working with communities across Canada to create opportunities for girls to participate, build confidence, develop connections and find belonging through sport.
Calgary’s Signature Move For The Girls Event
One of the ways Calgary is bringing Move For The Girls to life this October is through Brunch For The Girls, happening Saturday, October 17 at The Loft at Calgary Farmers’ Market.
Instead of running toward a finish line, you’ll be heading into a room filled with leaders in sport, athletes, advocates and friends.Hear from a panel of inspiring women in sport as they share powerful stories of passion, perseverance and possibility. Enjoy a thoughtfully curated brunch, a premium swag bag and a surprise book for every guest, and celebrate how sport can create more opportunities for girls.
