Onesies and Furry Friends: Calgary’s Onesie Run

Your favourite onesie deserves a day out.

On Saturday, November 14, 2026, Onesie Run returns to Calgary’s East Village for a morning of movement, community and wonderfully questionable race outfits. Think animal onesies, matching friends and families, and plenty of reasons to smile along the route.

As Calgary’s and Canada’s only official, dedicated Onesie Run, this event gives your fall race calendar a little extra personality. It also supports a cause animal lovers can get behind: raising funds and awareness for the Calgary Humane Society.

Pick Your Distance, Find Your Pace

With 1 km and 5 km routes, Onesie Run welcomes everyone from regular runners to families looking for a fun way to spend a Saturday morning.

Walk it. Jog it. Run it. Bring a friend who’s never entered an event before, or round up a group willing to commit to matching outfits. Both distances welcome participants of all fitness levels, and affordable tickets for children and youth aged 18 and under make it easier to bring the family.

The event starts and finishes at RiverWalk Plaza, beside the historic Simmons Building, with the Bow River and East Village setting the scene.

Finally, Weather That Makes Sense for a Onesie

Anyone who’s worn a fleece onesie indoors knows how quickly cozy can turn into too warm.

The November timing is intentional. Cooler fall temperatures make getting active in your favourite onesie more comfortable than a midsummer outing. Calgary can still deliver a surprise or two, so check the forecast and plan your layers for the day.

Consider it a good excuse to take your dinosaur, unicorn or favourite cartoon character out for some fresh air.

A Little Friendly Competition and Prizes Beyond the Podium

Every participant receives a finisher medal and a swag bag, giving everyone something to take home after their time on the course.

For those with a competitive streak, the participants finishing first, second and third in the kids’ 1 km and the 5 km for all ages receive special prizes and recognition.

There are chances to win beyond the podium, too. Each registrant is automatically entered into the event’s prize draws, with giveaways taking place after the 5 km finishes. Previous prizes have included gift cards from Great White Car Wash, Spolumbo’s Deli and Sport Chek, and gift baskets from Inside Out Total Wellness, Grooming with Tamara and Tality East Village!

Stick around after you finish. You could have another reason to celebrate.

Come for the Run, Stay for the Fun

There’s plenty to enjoy beyond the course. A live DJ will keep the energy up, a food truck will be onsite when you’re ready for a bite, and wood fire pits will help keep you toasty.

Take a few photos, catch up with friends and enjoy the sight of your fellow runners warming up in their onesies. It’s all part of a morning worth making time for.

Helping Animals, One Onesie at a Time

Onesie Run raises funds and public awareness for the Calgary Humane Society, bringing animal lovers together for a morning that makes a positive local impact.

And yes, your furry friend is welcome to join the fun! Please keep dogs responsibly leashed throughout the event.
